Born and raised in southern Virginia, Tom found his passion for service and his acumen for engineering and facility operations at an early age. As the son of an engineer, Tom’s father instilled the values of hard work and team work as well as service to others as a way of life. In addition, Tom excelled in athletics and music through High School, as well as volunteering with his church, rescue services and community outreach programs until moving away to college.
Tom’s college education began at Richard Bland of the College of William & Mary and James Madison University. There Tom served as an officer of the student government association, community wind ensemble, intramural athletic teams as well as a member of Delta Tau Chi fraternity. After receiving his Communications degree, Tom had a call to service and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his Navel service, Tom then decided to join the Police Department.
Over the next 20 years, Tom served with the Baltimore City Police, Breckenridge Police and Wheat Ridge Police Departments. In addition to patrol operations and specialized units, Tom served as an academy instructor, narcotics detective, field training officer and SWAT. Through these experiences, Tom was awarded two bronze stars as well as numerous unit citations, meritorious service awards and individual citations. If that wasn’t enough, Tom still found the time to volunteer as a youth football, basketball and baseball coach. Finally, Tom’s community service did not stop there. He served on the Catholic Charities Quality Council for local youth treatment facilities and served with several groups and boards as an advocate for the ability impaired; speaking in Washington D.C. to several committees dedicated to the funding of such causes. Finally, Tom continued with his education over this period earning degrees from Baltimore City College in Law Enforcement Management, Arizona State University in Criminal Justice (magna cum laude) and continuing his MBA at Arizona State University – W.P. Carey School of Business.
Prior to retirement from law enforcement, Tom started transitioning to a new career in the fitness industry. Over the past 15 years, he climbed the ranks of the company serving as a technician, engineer and senior operations manager. During his tenure he and his team were recognized for numerous regional and national awards for service and operational excellence. This led to his transfer five years ago to Houston to assist in the opening of several new facilities and oversee operations and engineering for several facilities in the market.
Tom now calls Houston Texas home! Tom has shared this adventure with his wife of 29 years and their 4 children. Living in Houston has been more than they hoped for with such a diverse environment of culture, food, entertainment and people. With the support of his family, his operational expertise and his innate service nature, he is excited to join the Four-Leaf Towers team. His commitment to serving others as well as the ability to manage projects, build partnerships, problem solve and strategic planning, enable him to aid in the future success of Four-Leaf Towers, its owners, guests and team members.
